Support and Education Groups
If you are going through a divorce, thinking about starting the divorce process, dealing with a modification or relocation action, these groups are for you. Divorce, or any Family Law proceeding can be hard. Emotionally, mentally, financially, and physically. The truth is, the process can last months, sometimes years. It has the potential to sap your energy, your resources, your emotions, your time, and can leave even the strongest person paralyzed by the vast amount of work to be done and decisions that have to be made. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation swirling about. Not only do you need support, but you need good information based on the realities of the Family Law legal system. The more educated you are the more efficiently you can work with your attorney, which will ultimately save you legal fees. If you are tackling your divorce on your own, without an attorney, then support and good information is all the more critical.

Divorce 101
Divorce 101 is a five group educational series that covers the following basic topics:
Initiating the Divorce: We will focus on the early stages of the divorce process from filing the action to Temporary Orders. You will gain the knowledge and skills that will help you to become organized and confident from the outset. If time allows we will discuss the process of choosing an attorney.
Temporary Orders: This stage can often follow on the heels of initiating the legal action, but because of the complexity is set out as its own topic. We will discuss pros and cons, the availability of temporary financial provisions, temporary parenting plans, temporary child support and temporary restraints.
Parenting Plans: This stage, while typically part of temporary orders, is ongoing and a complex topic all on its own. We will discuss temporary and final parenting plans, parenting plan evaluations, and tips to craft a well thought out parenting plan.
The Discovery Process: This stage is incredibly time consuming and overwhelming. We will dicuss what it is used for and what information can be discovered. Most importantly, we will discuss tips to plan ahead and spread the work out over a greater period of time in order to reduce the burden.
Alternative Dispute Resolution and Trial: We will discuss Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation and/or arbitration) as an alternative to trial, including the deadlines and preparation needed for each one.
